Production Engineer

Job Summary

The Production Engineer role is a crucial link between Engineering, Manufacturing and Sales.  The role will focus on generating and maintaining technical and configuration data to be used by all departments and supporting Production with technical queries where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between Production/Operations and Engineering with completion of documentation where necessary.
  • The creation and maintenance of part numbers and BOMs for new and existing products.
  • Generation and monitoring of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) when up-issuing BOMs under the guidance of the Engineering Design Authority and Production Management Team.
  • Monitor and manage component obsolescence and alternatives as required.
  • Ownership of the Manufacturing Data Pack for ECS Products.
  • Completion of mechanical and electrical/electronic design updates where appropriate.
  • Overall responsibility for configuration management and maintenance of the associated engineering management plans.
  • Creation of agreed Assembly Instructions.
  • Responsible for the Production Feedback Register
  • Provide support and input to Sales for the generation and checking of part number/model descriptors.

Key Requirements:

  • Hold an HNC in Electronics or a related subject, along with relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Display self-motivation and strong teamwork skills, with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Possess a solid technical understanding gained from working in a similar environment.
  • Have knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Required Education / Experience:

  • Self-motivated, a strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Good technical understanding.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacture.
  • Professional approach to all work.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • HNC in Electronics or related subject.

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in an equivalent role.
  • Degree/HND in an Engineering discipline. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an equivalent role.
