Post Title: Senior Embedded Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Principal Embedded Design Engineer
Main Purpose of the job: We are looking for an enthusiastic, Senior Embedded Design Engineer to join our engineering team.
They will be part of a dynamic team continually designing and developing world beating products. The Senior Embedded Design Engineer will be expected to support or lead innovation and potentially work on products across all three CommTech (TCI&ECS) pillars – Datalinks, Battlespace and Spectrum Monitoring Systems (SMS).

Key Responsibilities: This role is predominantly a design-based role focused across the whole CommTech product line with a focus towards products designed at the Wappenham site.

The following skills and experience will be required: (Candidates are not expected to have experience in all areas); 

• Development of VHDL using Xilinx Vivado and/or Intel Quartus including IP block integration and SoC designs
• Complex FPGA design from concept through to verification with automated test benches
• C/C++ on bare-metal, embedded RTOS and Linux
• Embedded Linux experience including applications, drivers, system build and SoC integration
• Development of SDR software and hardware
• Experience of DVB-T, Mesh, MANET or other datalink/radio technologies
• Knowledge of UDP, TCP, threads/multi-process, serial protocols and high-speed interfaces
• Electronic design/schematic capture including component creation
• Familiarity with scripting such as Python, Bash or Make

Supporting the scoping of systems and new technologies as required by the Principal Embedded Design Engineer
Production of Requirement Specifications and other required documentation
Manufacturing/production assistance as required/requested
Mentoring of lower grades assigned to your design function
Be available for allocation as design or project for assigned projects
Organise and Lead Preliminary Design Reviews, Intermediate Design Reviews and Critical Design Reviews as dictated by company procedures.
Managing external design resources as required.

Qualifications & Training required:

Degree in Electronics or related subject.  Previous or relevant work experience necessary:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an equivalent role.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an equivalent role.
Personal Qualities & Attitude
Self-motivated and enthusiastic. Able to work in a team and interact with other Engineering disciplines.
Ability to produce results under pressure.
Product Knowledge
An understanding of products aligned with the ECS portfolio.
