HF DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) Antenna Products

The latest technological improvement in HF Broadcasting is that digital broadcasting permits HF broadcasters to provide signals of quality similar to stereo FM. The Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) consortium has developed a non-proprietary standard for digital broadcasting in the bands below 30 MHz (a range that has now been extended to 120 MHz).

  • DRM® transmissions are starting to play an important role in HF broadcasting. The DRM web page at http://www.drm.org provides information about digital HF broadcasting.

  • For regional or national coverage, DRM broadcasters can use TCI's wide range of HF antennas that have been proven in service for decades.

      • For local coverage, DRM provides high quality service in the 26 MHz band using a relatively modest transmitter power (1 or 2 kW) with coverage similar to that of an FM signal. TCI has developed and is patenting an antenna for the 26 MHz band that suppresses the sky wave and enhances the direct wave, thus limiting coverage to a local area and avoiding interference with distant stations.
