HF Communications Products
TCI is the world leader in the design, manufacture and installation of communications antennas for the 2 to 30 MHz HF band. Thousands of TCI antennas are currently in use around the world. Typical applications include ground-air, ship-shore, GMDSS, and military communications.
- Broadband Frequency Range: Most TCI HF antennas operate throughout the HF band without tuning. A typical frequency range is approximately 3 to 30 MHz; lower frequencies (i.e., longer wavelengths) models operate down to 2 or even 1.6 MHz.
- Full Efficiency: Unless noted otherwise, all TCI models are fully efficient because the antennas do not use resistors or resistive wires.
- Multiple Power Ratings: Most models are available in various power ratings from receive-only to 25 kW average/50 kW peak power.
- Environmental Ratings: Most models are available in at least two ratings:160 km/h (100 mph) with 12 mm (1/2-inch) radial ice and 225 km/h (140 mph) wind with no ice.
- Polarization: Vertically polarized antennas produce a surface or ground wave and a low-angle sky wave. The performance of vertical antennas depends on ground conductivity so these antennas require ground screens. The performance of horizontally-polarized antennas is nearly independent of ground conductivity so ground screens are not required.
- Radiation Patterns: Omni-azimuthal or directional; low take-off angle for long ranges or high take-off angle for short ranges.
